Southeast Asia Crypto Funding Jumps to $680 Million as Investors Back Fewer, Bigger Deals

Southeast Asia’s blockchain sector has raised $680 million so far in 2026, more than double the $319 million secured during all of last year, according to new Tracxn data. But the rebound is being driven by a smaller number of larger investments, signaling that capital is concentrating around established crypto infrastructure companies rather than spreading broadly across startups. The region has recorded 25 blockchain funding rounds this year, compared with 46 in 2025 and 206 at the market’s 2022 peak. That contrast suggests investors are becoming more selective even as the total amount of capital deployed rises. Crypto.com Deal Drives Much of the 2026 Funding Rebound One transaction accounts for a large share of this year’s total. Crypto.com announced a $400 million strategic investment from Citadel Securities in July, valuing the company at $20 billion. The investment alone represents nearly 60% of the $680 million raised across Southeast Asia’s blockchain sector in 2026. Crypto.com said the funding would support expansion into areas including tokenized securities and derivatives as the company builds products connecting traditional markets with digital assets. The size of the deal also helps explain why aggregate funding has risen sharply even though the number of completed rounds remains relatively low. Other large financings cited by Tracxn include a $100 million Series D for Edena Capital and a $50 million Series A for Startale. The funding pattern marks a notable shift from the earlier crypto venture cycle. Southeast Asian blockchain companies raised $2.2 billion in 2022 before funding plunged to $386 million in 2023. Investment recovered to $804 million in 2024, then fell again to $319 million last year. Crypto Financial Services Attract the Most Capital Financial infrastructure has emerged as the biggest destination for blockchain investment in the region. Crypto financial-services companies attracted $498 million across 19 rounds over the period measured by Tracxn, up 48.4% from a year earlier. Digital-asset fractionalization and tokenization platforms drew $114 million, while decentralized application development platforms received $77 million and blockchain networks attracted $49.5 million. The figures point to growing investor interest in businesses built around payments, trading, tokenization and other financial-market infrastructure rather than purely speculative crypto applications. Singapore Dominates Southeast Asia’s Blockchain Market Funding is also heavily concentrated geographically. Singapore accounts for 82.5% of the $6.2 billion in cumulative blockchain equity funding tracked across Southeast Asia and is home to 2,285 of the region’s 3,957 blockchain companies. Jakarta ranks a distant second with about 3% of total funding. Across the region, 1,323 blockchain companies have received institutional funding, yet only 167 have reached Series A or later. Just 50 have progressed to Series B, 14 to Series C and four to Series D or beyond. That gap helps explain the emerging investment pattern. Southeast Asia still has a large blockchain startup base, but capital is increasingly flowing toward a relatively small group of companies that have already demonstrated scale. The $680 million headline therefore tells only part of the story. Crypto funding in Southeast Asia is recovering in dollar terms, but 2026 is shaping up as a market defined by fewer deals, larger checks and a growing preference for established financial infrastructure businesses rather than a return to the broad funding boom seen in 2022.
